It's time to attach the GT Special badges to my fenders, and I'm wondering what the best adhesive is to use. Ordinary contact cement should work, but I'm concerned I'll never be able to get the badges off again if for example I need to repaint the fender some day. Will the old hair dryer and dental floss trick work on parts attached with contact cement or do I need to use something different, like rubber cement?

Don't glue them on!!! 3M double sided tape is what you want. You may have to trim it down to fit your badges but it will hold them on forever. It's what the automakers use on all their OEM badges. You may be able to purchase it at an auto parts store but if not an automotive paint store like Lee suggested.
Cheers!!

I'd take some wax remover to the paint where you are installing them so they stick forever. Goof-off will work too.

I just taken a badge of the back of my GT,its been put on with silicone sealent, almost broke it in 2 removing it.
The BL badges were put on with those double sided sticky foam like the type thats used on rear view mirrors, then when you come to remove it your just breaking the foam, rest comes off with goof off.

Go to an automotive paint store and get the 2 sided tape that they use. The door ding side trims on my Ford are all put on with 2 sided tape.
You can pick up the same stuff at Home Depot, Menards (where I got mine), probably Lowe's too. Just get 3M Heavy-Duty doubles sided tape.
When I did mine, I could see where they old tape had been. So if it was good enough "back in the day", it's probably still a good way to go.
