Hello friends
After a long pro and contra, my MG CGT just won the MG 50th concours at Chateau Impney GB, I have decited to go for the EZ power steering.
The result is phenomenal! It transformrd the car into a easy to use every day car!
You know the haevy steering in shopping centres, but there is more advantage on twisty roads: finally I can drive trough hairpins with one hand on the wheel and the other hand changing gear! Just great!
I have ordered directly from http://www.ezpowersteering.nl/ and it cost me 1500 Euros + some freight and it arrived next day!
The installation is straight forward and the electrics are easy. Once properly fixed, it is hardly visible from the drivers view. There is a little problem with the diameter of the pin going into the X connection. This should be solved by now. I am glad to give you any assistance.
Best Regards
Ruedi

Ruedi,
You have confirmed exactly my experience with the EZ system, what a huge difference it makes to how the car feels, almost like a modern car.
I drove a standard GT (after I fitted my unit) and it was heavy and dreadful, I was happy to park it.
I was unable to deal directly with EZ, all my enquiries got redirected to the UK agent who was extremely helpful and he supplied my EZ system along with a simple page of instructions.
I have Doug Smith's fast rack and a 15" thick rimmed leather covered Moto-Lita wheel and this works out perfectly with the EZ system.
There are so many good improvements that owners can make to the factory car which then becomes the GT we all hoped for.
Bruce.

Hi Bruce
Great to hear from you! The ease of installation is a big advantage of EZ steering: nothing in the engin compartement, no pump, no hoses.
No drilling or even welding - it can be build back to original in a few hours. This is importent to me, since this alteration is not legal with our MOT.
But this problem will be only in 6 years.
For now I enjoy the new handling of the MG!

Ruedi,
I had to take my car to "an approved inspection engineer" to have the system approved for use on Australian roads, I had to attach a blue & silver modification plate with the engineers approval number, date and item number.
Down here now everything has to be inspected and approved, once approved the car can be driven anywhere in Australia. Costly & time wasting but it keeps the 'shonky' modifications off the road so we should all be thankful.
My Insurance company has a list of all my modifications, surprisingly they have valued my car (agreed value) way above the factory C-GT's. Almost twice the market value at the moment.
The IRS was a real PITA as there was no issued item number and the Transport Department testing officers were over zealous, I wondered if the car would survive on their shaking pads. Now there is an item number for the IRS in a light car so I have that on the modification plate, previously I had to carry an approvals letter in the car at all times.
Today the Downton system would probably have to be approved as well, I don't know when all this Bulls**t started to come into effect.
