I'm looking for a 14" version of the factory steering wheel that came on my '69 MGC. preferably with a wood grip. The wheel doesn't have to be exact but give the overall impression of the OEM wheel. Obviously a wooden grip would be a departure. I'm attaching a photo of one that is close but I haven't found out who made it. Any help would be appreciated

Marc,
Most of us have fitted 'Moto-Lita' wheels with the 9 bolt hubs and that may be a special 'Moto-Lita' as it also has 9 bolts.
The thick leather covered wheel is excellent for the MGC, 'Moto-Lita do make wood rim wheels.
They make 14" & 15" wheels in all types with suitable hubs depending on the steering column.
Here is my 15" wheel.
Bruce.

Thanks Bruce. Your wheel looks good in there. I have been all through the Moto Lita catalogue. I actually have been through almost every steering wheel manufacturer's product lines. I say almost because I hadn't seen this particular wheel before. I may need to go to a more bespoke wheel. In the mean time I will continue my search for the wheel I pictured.

Marc,
What you seek can be done as a customized wheel. And in wood!! And I’ve done it to an MGA OEM wheel...well, most of it.
A guy removed all the bakelite from his MGA wheel, cut it from 16.5” to 14”, fabricated a new metal rim, welded the spokes to it, and sent it to me. I, then, had a new mahogany rim put on it to closely mirror the original, sanded to 1200, stained, and urethaned it. It came out amazing!!
The same can be done for any “large” wheel but you must make sure it has the right hole size and spline size for your car.
Here are a few pics, 14.4” after the wood was applied.

Thank you so much. I had considered that very thing. It's reassuring to know someone has already successfully done it. As for the wheel picture I originally posted, I'd still like to know the manufacturer. It's becoming something of a quest for me.

Hi Marc
The steering wheel in your original post was probably made by Superspoke Steering Wheels. Morgan Spares sell different versions, see link below

Marc,
The picture posted is not of a Nardi nor Moto Lita I've come across. I'm asking my UK supplier on your behalf. Email me it this helps.

Check these links on eBay - they are interesting "banjo style" 14" wheels, both leather and wood.
The bolt pattern seems to fit standard Motolita adaptor, and the price is on the "sane" side:

Have a word with Mike Lempert he is making beautiful steering wheels.
Sometimes a bit slow, but well worth the wait: https://www.pbase.com/mdlempert/wheels
I bought this wheel from him for my MGB
