Buddy the B...
I seldom, spelled Never name our vehicles however, while spending a few hours evaluating the MGB when I bought it, checking compression etc... the seller's Boxer dog would not stop barking. His name was Buddy. We have owned Buddy for twenty-one years.

Ok, this will make "3 outta 3" i got posted, all by myself....
Sure thought I had better pictures...
My '74 with 85K actual on the clock. I'm the third owner. Mechanically it's quite good. The interior needs replaced, only one spot of rust on the left dogleg.

Yesterday, my wife and I attended a NZ Wings and Wheels show where owners and passengers of classic vehicles and aircraft had free entry. What a fantastic day with a pretty much even split between British and US vehicles. Some unusual items on display and there are lots of additional photos at this link: https://geoffjames.blogspot.com/2024/01/wings-and-wheels-2024.html . It was also great to meet up with MG owners from other regions and shoot the breeze. For a country with a 5 million population, there are a lot of cool things sitting in sheds!
Cheers,
Geoff

Here is my modernized version of a mild 1800 MGB with computer controls:
The engine stock displacement and fairly mild. I rebuilt it about 15 years ago.
The head is a crossflow with cleaned up ports and a hand made EFI intake.
I was a a car show at the track and they let us drive around between races. The pace car went quicker than expected and we tried to keep up. I did not drive it aggressively into the bakes and corners but it still a quite a bit faster than I would drive around on the streets.
So with two heavier fellows with a full truck and about 16 gallons of gas (oversized tank) we get along pretty good.
The chap with me was at the show and just bought a MGB so I offered to share the fun.
This give you a good change to hear it run.
1975 MGB restored in 2009 to near stock with 9.8:1 compression and mild cam.
Bespoke closed loop, sequential, port fuel injection system with crank triggered ignition.
Hand made intake, wiring and other parts.

After about 4 months of regular nearly daily work, my wife's 1976 MGB is back on the road! Engine overhaul, carbs rebuilt, trans reseal, and MANY OTHER odds and ends later, IT LIVES AGAIN. Body was wrapped in a color changing vinyl. It's not a top level restoration by any stretch, but a solid driver. She's HAPPY, I'm HAPPY!!!

Looks goodDavid,
Everybody getting ready to driving this year - It's going to be fun!
How did the vinyl wrap go and would you do it again?
I have been thinking about wrapping my beater sleeper Tahoe

Hello Ken,
Thanks for your comment. As I stated, this is definitely NOT a full on top quality restoration. There was some moderate body work done prior to wrapping including a little Crack of Doom repair on the passenger door. One thing is for certain, if there are ANY flaws in the bodywork, they WILL show through the vinyl. That being said, if you are OK with a driver quality finish, I think it came out pretty well. As far as durability, I expect if it is garage kept and cared for properly, it will hold up for a good while. Just remember it AIN'T PAINT......

If she runs as good as she looks, you've got a winner there !
Great job. I'm kinda jealous that you've had the time to work on your MGB daily for four months !! Now you can enjoy it. You beat everyone to spring !
I like the wrap too. Looks great !
Sincerely,
Dion
