My 2 rear (red) side marker lights (not the taillights) have screws that are fixed in place in the chrome housing and they use locknuts to secure it on the fender, but my 2 front (orange) side marker lights (side of fender, not signal lights) have separate screws that are not attached to the housing and use quick "spinoff" speed nuts. The chrome housing on these orange side marker lights have a square hole for the screws, indicating to me that a screw with a square shank on the head (ie. carriage bolt) should be used. Also, I've noticed a round, flat rubber seal that I don't see in the Moss Motors manual.
I've attached photos that should clarify what I'm talking about.
Questions:
What kind of screws and nuts were the original method of mounting these lights?
Should those screws on the orange side marker lights be fixed in place in the housing like the back lights?
Should they all have an extra flat round rubber seal and if so, where do I get them?
(I have already bought the plinths and large seating gaskets for all 4 lights).
Hope these questions aren't too confusing, I can attach more photos if needed.

Somebody repaired the ones with the loose screws. Totally acceptable. You wont loose any points from the judges. Once
the original screws break off that can leave a rather large hole. Then you go to your screws and washer boxes.

The original stationary screws are made of unobtainium unless you find a donor set. They will actually pound right out
with a light hammer and socket underneath. They have a square base and are pressed in is my guess. As for the seals
the lense seals are available and the round ones can be made from Hardware store window seals with a little patience.
The round seals are only needed in the trunk to seal out water, no need to seal out water on the front fenders.

Good Luck,

Well that makes sense about the seals to keep the trunk dry, I can make these up as you mention.
I was thinking of just epoxying those loose screws in the housing to make it a little easier for assembly/disassembly as well.

After replacing a broken front running light, lost screw, and found they are #6-32, on front lights. Lol…same as your home wall socket screws, just not phillip, but flat head screws. Seems larger on rear lenses, maybe #8-32. Lucky me have some extra lenses, Moss lenses..”$66”…wow. Checked rimmer, since ordering parts from them now cheaper than US vendors, but lens, were $61. So take care if those! I went back to guard fragile looking screw holes, added very small Orings and star gaskets to help prevent over tightening and cracking the screw holes. If you find deals on all the lenses, grab some extras!!!
My2¢, maybe 1¢

I always save those screws when I scrap taillight assemblies.

Screws on my back marker lights are 6-32's as well and yes, these light assemblies are very expensive.
I've just epoxied my screws in the housing to make it easier. On to the next job!
