Last June I bought a 5 quart jug at Amazon for $23.39. I just went to order another and they wanted $43.06. Is everyone else seeing this price or is it only me?

I just bought a case of 6 quarts for $40.08 on Amazon. That comes out to $6.68 per quart. 5 quarts for $43.06 is $8.61 a quart. That's why I bought the 6 quart case. EBay has 5 quart jig for $34.95. Just gotta shop around.

I have been using straight 20-50 and adding ZDDP. Currently 5qt of Castrol 20-50 is $22.96 and $8.99 for 11oz of ZDDP which is enough for 2 oil changes.

Thanks for the responses. I thought Amazon was playing games to see how much I would pay. I guess that is what the price is now.

Ordered and received a jug from Amazon for $25.58 at the end of last month.

They do play with the pricing. I've put things on my wish list and the price jumps around for a few days then settles.

Amazon playing games? YES they do. I can look at an item and then get out of Amazon. When I come back the price will have changed. I guess that is their way to punish us for not impulse buying.

Yesterday I did some shopping around for Valvoline VR1 20W50. The lowest price was on Amazon at $41 for 6 quarts. I did not find it cheaper anywhere else.

The high price of gas and oil is our government working for us.

I have discovered that a lot of the time, if you put something in your cart but DON'T check out....just leave it in your cart....and come back later (couple days, week, two weeks...), the price will have dropped. It's like they're trying to get you to finally commit. Not always, and not on every item....sometimes the price goes UP....but it does happen.

Once, I had my eye on a hard-shell travel case (like a Pelican case), and Amazon had one for about $75. I put it in the cart, and had full intentions of doing more shopping later and add to the order....but life gets in the way and I forgot. A week later I came back and the price in my cart was now $48!! Pounced on it right then.

I do agree with the other comment about shopping around, especially on Ebay. Prices rise and fall based on supply & demand...basic economics.

I wonder if it is Prime thing, but I checked and the best deal I see is a 2 pack of 5 quart jugs, for 50.00, so 25.00 each.

I get mine at Walmart usually cause shipping to Hawaii gets me every time.
I know airlines do the price gouging thing. If you look for a flight then come back an hour later it will have gone up! Didn’t know Amazon played with prices too.

Ya know, you can order direct from AMSOIL, plus get 'Preferred Customer' discount?

Of course it costs more... [a good reason]
