Hello,
My 18GB-U-H engine's at the machine shop and due to deep pitting they suggest I order some sleeves. They've asked for the site to order parts from so they/I order the correct size sleeve. On the Moss site there's only one part# 426-080.
They feel the pits are rather deep so they're choosing to sleeve over boring.
1) Is this the correct part #? If so anyone have dimensions?
This was an engine that was sitting for who knows how long but long enough for the pistons to seize.
Cheers,
Chad

Find another machine shop. The customer never supplies sleeves; they are always provided by the machine shop and ordered by specification and measurements, not by application...

Somebody in Indiana or Illinois will have a good block for cheap that doesn't need sleeves. Put a WTB ad in the Buy, Sell, Trade page of this website and you'll find one for a very reasonable price. Best of luck. Basil 707.762.0974 basiladams@yahoo.com

Before discarding the block, why not have the shop bore that pot to 0.040" to see if it cleans up, if not try 0.060"; then purchase a piston/ring set to match?
Before ordering pistons for the GB engine get a recommendation on piston/ring/pin setup.
I too have not heard of a machine shop ordering sleeves retail.
At some point in my car's history, two pots were sleeved, has never caused any issues.
Also, a great opportunity to build a 1950cc engine (JUST KIDDING).

What Dick said. Is this an actual automotive machine shop or a job shop? A automotive machine shop that wants you to supply the sleeves is like a restaurant wanting you to bring the food, very strange. Installing sleeves is an every day task in an automotive machine shop, I've installed literally thousands. Economically it makes no sense to sleeve all four when blocks are available.

Your best bet for either for success or cost would be to get another block. Any 5 main MGB block would work. If you were closer I would give you one.
