Car has been sold to a vintage racer located near Riverside, CA.
MGC-GT Sebring Lightweight Tribute Project
The car on offer is a 1969 MGC-GT modified as a tribute to MGC-GTS RMO 699F, one of two alloy-bodied MGC-GTS lightweight BMC Factory race cars prepared and raced in 1968 and 1969. The preparations completed on this project were carried out by a professional race car shop in Sonoma County, California. This project was not undertaken to produce a replica, but as a tribute to be used for vintage racing, as several upgrades (e.g., full roll cage for safety) were incorporated. The car is currently titled and registered, and can be completed as either a vintage race car, or a street car.
Following a complete disassembly, the Unibody was chemically stripped, media blasted, and a corrosion reduction coating applied. The Unibody was seam welded, selected panels (e.g., sills) replaced, and rear shock towers installed. Internal Unibody panels (cockpit, engine bay, roll cage, and bottom of car were painted, and alloy body panels (front and rear fenders, and door skins, were procured and installed. The front and rear suspensions were rebuilt and installed.
A rebuilt engine with new alloy head, gearbox with competition gears, and LSD differential were installed.
This project includes many of the components required for final assembly. The project package includes a two-axle enclosed trailer with recent maintenance, and four new tires.
