  • After a long time the work is done

  • The time of purchase ... a puzzle with many boxes

Restoration completed October 2017
The restoration involved the complete disassembly of the car. When I bought it they told me that they had been trying to reassemble it for 5 years and the conditions of the mechanics were really disastrous. I rebuilt the engine, overhauled the alternator, starter motor, the two radiators, the heating system and the carburettors. I replaced the electrical system, the braking system and all the pipes including the petrol one, the pump and the tank. Front axle completely rebuilt and replaced calipers, discs and drums. Overhaul of the shock absorbers
Repainting of the body after removing the old paint also on the underside.I replaced 90% of the screws and nuts, fitted a new stainless steel exhaust system. I have replaced all the interiors and the glass. I mounted an electronic ignition.I personally performed all the activities related to the mechanical, electrical and plant parts, while for the bodywork, the painting and the assembly of bonnets and doors I have to thank my friend Giulio Piazzani for the work done. Time taken for two people about 18 months with long interruptions for finding spare parts and for grinding operations of cylinders, crankshaft etc.. All done, with adequate equipment in the home box.

Are you sure this is a 69? I have a 69 and the seats are different and there are 3 wiper blades. Did they have multiple 69s?

Hi Fred, the car was newly registered in Italy in 1969 and I bought it in February 2016 under disastrous mechanical and aesthetic conditions. The design of the seat is that planned for the year 1969 and the color in that year was black or mushroom. I didn't like black and I chose the one most similar to the mushroom. Mount two wiper blades because it is the European model.Best regards, Gianfranco

Gianfranco, thank you for the compliment. From reading your car description, it sounds like we have been down the same road, check out my blog: https://adamsmgbrestoration.blogspot.com/ I has been a long year, but what else was I going to do? Your car is immaculate, very impressive!

Adam, on your blog I could appreciate the meticulous and beautiful work you have done on your MGB. I am very happy that you liked my B .... although it has been some time since it was put on the road, think that these days I am still fighting to correct the camber of the front wheels and maybe I have found the solution. In any case, the work never ends .....Thanks and a very cordial greetingGianfranco
