1959 MGA Project
Posted on: Wednesday May 24, 2023
24 May 2023 Been busy assessing and amassing new tin. Got all the panels and pieces needed to replace the left side sill and B pillar. Had some quality issues with the B pillar purchased here in the US - so I sent it back and purchased a left B pillar from a supplier in Australia. Much better and it included the captive nuts. 5 May 2023 Switched tracks on dipping car - decided to do tin work first based on replies from other MGA owners. May do a dip, may do blasting - haven't decided. But... 29 Apr 2023 Decided the tub needs to go to a dipper remove all the rust before I start on any sheet metal work. So, began to pull the MGA part down the bare tub - will cross brace the door openings and tub. Then send the tub and fenders to dipper. The doors, bonnet and boat lid will need to me worked by hand - by me. All parts, nuts, bolts washers being bagged and labeled. Photos of everything are being taken and cataloged. The journey will be long...but at least documented.

That restorre had the HOA breathing down his neck to get a 1970 GT6 off his driveway, so he sold the MGA to make room in the garage. Bought this project 14 April 2023. and it followed me home to Melbourne. Not new to restoring MG's - did a couple, still have a 72 roaster and 67 GT. But the itch to go back earlier...
