I am also doing my best to reincarnate my wife's TF wiper motor now with two in my hands and both needing repair I think if I can just locate 2 of the fabric spring holders for the brush arms as both of mine failed I might have rotation!!! Is there any on planet earth?
UPDATE---------------------------------------------------
Started digging around and found some small panduit straps, cut them back as far as I could, heated up a tack and burnt a hole in each and installed. Went to put the cap on and to trim off half of where the strap feeds through and it works!!!
Thank you
Mark

HI La Verne! I connected the wire as you indicate but I have two wires that come from the electric loom, a green one and a larger black one. The green one is connected to the lead of the wiper motor and the brown one comes from the switch on the second lead . The black one from the electric loom with the black one from the switch connected on the cover. It worked but all of a sudden the motor no longer turns and the battery discharges very quickly . I must mention that my battery is connected positif to ground , could this be the cause ?

Makes no difference what polarity the car is. The wiper motor doesn't care. I would suggest you start by disconnecting all wires from the wiper motor. Check your fuses. You should have one 50 amp fuse and one 35 amp fuse. You should know that these should be labeled as lucas on the paper insert. If they are not then someone has replaced them with some generic American fuses and if they read 35 and 50 on the ends then that isn't good. The Lucas fuses are rated differently and if you have the American versions you should use some that are rated at half of what the lucas fuses are to get the same protection.
Having checked that remove the 35 amp fuse and see if your amp meter goes back to normal with the key on. If it does it tells you the draw is with something on that circuit. Since you will have removed the two wiper motor wires I suspect that you won't see any draw even with the fuse in place if it is the wiper motor causing the problem. Reconnect the ground wire to the wiper motor and put the fuse back in. Next take the hot wire (with the key on) and touch the other wiper pole with the hot wire. Does the wiper run? does it hum like it wants to run? does it blow the fuse? If it acted like it wanted to run but didn't, shut the power off and remove the cover off of the wiper gear case. Lift the cable away from the gear and set it to the side. Try running the motor again without the cable connected. Does it run? If it does it would suggest that the cable and gears need cleaned up and re greased. It would also suggest that the armature may need serviced and brushes possibly replaced.

Thanks that's what I thought . Is it possible to have a 50 amp Lucas instead of the 35 amp ? Because these 35 amp do not seem to be a Lucas, they were sold for MG TD, MG TF, and MGB. I found the 50 amps Lucas but not the 35 amp Lucas.I also found a brand new armature and brushes for the wiper motor. Hoping that the coil is intact.

If you can't find a 35 amp Lucas fuse use a 20 amp fuse from your local parts house. They will be slightly longer than the metric Lucas fuses but I don't think it's an issue with the TF fuse holder as it is with others. 35 Amp Lucas fuses can be found at a number of sources.

Interesting topic and suggestions. I have thought about trying to get my wiper motor working, too...BUT, I, too, have noticed that the compression fitting in each blade is loose. Each wiper arm can be easily removed. No point to worrying about the motor, wiring, etc. for use purposes as I don't drive in rain anyway. It would be nice if everything about the car works as it should.

Hello everyone ! I found and installed a new armature (part number 739731) and brushes on my CRT wiper motor dated 1954 model 75144 and after assembly is complete , I cannot manually turn the gears ??? Do you have a solution ? Please note that the armature is the original and is identical , so there is a back and forth movement from 1/16 to 3/32 on the armature . Not assembled the motor and gears turn freely . Has anyone had this problem ? Thanks

With the gears in the case along with the motor you will not be able to turn the gears by hand. They will only turn with movement from the motor shaft. The gears should be lubricated with a light grease and so should the throw arm, the cable and the wiper drive gears. The armature bushings should be very lightly oiled.
