Hi All
Ive been toying with the idea of taking a MGB or GT and converting it to look like an Aston Martin DB5.

Has anyone heard or, or seen, anything like this before?

Andy

Yes, here is one I converted last year in my shed. I made it to look as close to a DB5 as I could.

Not to laugh. I can't remember the name of the damn car but there was actually an MG-based car that looked surprising close to a DB5. If LLoyd chimes in, I know he'll be bale to offer up the info. If I recall correctly, that was actually the knock on the thing, looked to much like something it wasn't. At one point, there was a post (at least one, maybe more) about the car.

Any info would help. At the moment its just an idea, but I dont think the mgb gt or even a B, is that far away.

I need to try and get some blue prints or 3D models of the DB5 and MG to start looking at whats involved.

You should contact the company that built the DB5 stunt doubles for the latest James Bond movie:

Andy,

Just tell them you'd like a model but in 1:1 scale. winking smiley Also tell them money is no object. That should make them sit up and take notice.

Andrew,

That info came up here a while ago when the new Bond movie debuted. Someone had posted that link and I thought Andy might be interested.

I done alot of looking. Can't find any. I guess use plywood etc and make a buck. Would need a good detail model or measurements off a real car. [good luck in that] here is some idea.

I helped a guy make molds to make trike kit models. Used carboard, foam and body filler. But still not at the skill level you need. Maurice

That's the one! If I recall correctly, there were some rather unflattering comments about it the last time those pics posted here but I rather like it.

Coune Berlinette. 56 produced. Eight known survivors.

No, I'm not Lloyd's Understudy, I have a copy of Clausagers's Original MGB, where it is discussed on page 107.

another aston like MG was the Jacobs midgets. Dick jacobs basically borrowed the roofline from a db4 and put it on a midget to make it a coupe.
