I use a header, straight pipe to an IMCO glasspack at the very rear of the car where the resonator was. It doesn't sound like a ricer, it sounds like a vintage British race car and it's very loud. Many people will try to tell you that my setup reduces performance but hey I'm the one actually driving the car and I can tell you that the car performs way better now! Much zippier!

Arguably Maniflow, the direct descendent to Downton who were first choice for Works Specials.

I know of nothing superior. However, it can be argued with some merit that a street car needs nothing more than a stock manifold.

Anytime you ask "what's the best (fill in the blank)" you are going to get a ton of different answers.
Tell us what you plan on using the car for and what you want to get out of it. You'll still get a ton of answers but they will be more useful.

If you aren't going above 9.5:1 compression matched with a cam capable of breathing in and out more cfm,the stock cast iron manifold and 1.75 in pipes works fine. You aren't racing it and the torque curve should stay down low where the engine lives.
Big bore systems on a slightly skimmed head engine are a waste of time.

I am looking to get as much performance out of it as possible. I am rebuilding the engine with a performance street cam, new pistons, rings, rebuilt cabs. Completely rebuilt head slightly milled to increase compression.
So it sounds like a stock rebuild with a cam and a slight compression bump. How much was milled off the head? No port work I assume, since you didn't mention it? What are the cam specs?
Based on your description alone, it's pretty unlikely that you will gain any noticeable performance from anything other than a stock exhaust manifold, and something like a "stock" Bell or Falcon system.
My '67 GT has a fully ported head, bumped compression, APT VP-11 cam, and a lightened flywheel. When I got the car, it had a. Peco header, and a straight-through exhaust to a "Cherry Bomb". It sounded ridiculous, and I tend to not like headers on street cars. I went back to a ceramic coated factory exhaust manifold, and a Bell system, and I lost NOTHING in performance. I guess the real question at this point is, how much "noise" are you hoping for?

Well lets just say I would like to be able to hear the radio.
Then get a Falcon or Bell system. It won't sound like a 17 year old owns it, and you won't lose anything in performance.
There's always the Moss TT exhaust, which had some nice design features, but is noisy by some accounts.
