Just swapped my Weber Carb around and thought I would share my efforts. The return spring set up is temporary. Will use shorter springs when I get some.

I was going to do the same thing but I noticed the manifold opening width was tapered to accept the carb. As the secondary is bigger than the primary. With the carb rotated there was some interference between the secondary butterfly and the narrow side of the intake.

Probably for the same reason I tried it. Because the adjusting screws are pain to access.

Does the secondary open all the way without binding?

Gotta say I have never had to adjust my Weber in the two + years I have had it. Just not an issue for me. Car starts (without choke), runs great with no hesitation, and the secondaries open with no lag at all. Don't understand what the fuss is about.

Jay.....my "B" wasn't running as well as I wanted it to when I got it...have been tweaking on it. Bad manifold gasket, missing gasket between air filter plate and carb body....on and on....still fool-en with the jets too.

@brcree
nice.
clean.
concerned about your throttle cable at the firewall though it looks like you are rubbing the cable against the flange.

If you need help...
let me know.

This is how mine was set up 4 years ago when I bought my B. No issues so far and only had to lower my idle when I removed the A/c parts.

I changed mine around a few years ago were I could get to the mix. screw easer. I open up the intake OR I should say I matched the intake, carb, gaskets, heat sheild & nylon block. I found them not the same size & was going to restrict the air flow to the engine, by a fair bit. I added a alu. plate to help slow up the heat from the exhaust manifold getting to the carb & boiling the gas in the float bowl when I stop after the motor is up to running temp. I also lower the float in the carb. were there is not as much gas to boil. I do not have the problem of restarting a hot engine after a 5 to 10 min. sit. I run the elect. choke were I do not have to mess with the man. choke (getting lazy) In July 07 I ran from De. to Wi & a week later back to De. & the temp. was 98 to 102 on the way there & back. I keep a very good log on my MPG & I did 31 mpg with 87 oct. gas with the A/C on the round trip & I was running anywere from the speed limit to 80 mph, on the average I run 7-8 mph over.
