I bought a new set of seat covers and foams for 73-76, but apparently my seats were switched as the headrest covers are not the same as what I have. I figure I can track down the correct headrests, but wondering if the seat frames are all the same and what I ordered will fit?

Based on what I have seen on forum/internet, I think I have later seats (75-on) with an oval shaped headrest and the 73 set has like a "D" shaped cover.

Hoping the seat frames are all the same?

THX

Yes, the seat frames are the same for the 73 right through the end of production. The headrest design and upholstery pattern changed but they are interchangeable. The only real difference is that they added a small plastic hinge cover in 74, and the 73 frames would not be drilled and tapped for them. There is no functional difference and the foams and diaphragms are the same.

I believe 1969 seats are different from other years.

1969 was the first appearance of headrests...and they have two posts per headrest. Commonly referred to as "Chicklet-style headrests".

1970 was the first appearance of the "D-shaped" headrests which stayed with the MGB and Midget through the 1976 model year.

1977 through the end of production saw the "Oval-shaped" headrests.

good info Rick - I saw an LE a while back and the headrests looked strange to me - owner said they were original - did the LE's have something unique on those headrests? shape or something? wish I had taken a pic....

Correct, but the question was, will 73 foams and covers fit a 75 or later frame. And the answer is, yes.

Thanks all for the info.

I took apart the passenger seat and foam is stamped 1977, so what I ordered should work fine. Just need to track down some D shaped headrests or try to order matching headrest covers for what I have.....
