Rob,

Thanks for the pics, they look great! Much better than I had previously thought (closer to the 993 body style Porsche 911 headlights). I can't wait to see some pics at night and of the parking lights.

Photo request: Can you take a close up side pic similar to the last on in Jon's post showing how flush the light sits with the trim ring? Any issues with the buckets on install?

Well Matt,

Upon request, the first picture shows the (j.w.) Speaker 8700 EVO 2 lights from the side, they have the same fitment in the ring to hold them down as the common sealed beam lights, so of course no problem to fit them in the cowl, the EVO 2 has - according the manufacturer - a cleverer design on the back of the lap and more space to fold back cables in the cowl.
In general I would say the the clear dome shape of the Speaker lights is rather similar to the common sealed beam lamps in the US and even same dome as older Lucas H4 lamps I have in my 1989 Mini Thirty,
new Hella H4 have a rather flat shaped glass.

The second picture show side by side the B with Speaker lamps and a B with Hella H4 lamps, nothing wrong with the black car, just that the second ring is not right fitted in the picture.

The third picture shows a B still fitted with the US sealed beam lamps.

Proper HID projector headlights have been around for quite a while now ...I am surprised people here are asking about them ??....they will out-do your normal and LED projector lights by heaps ...I was considering getting a pair for the 4x4 ...the halo ring was the indicator and parking light.
At the time the 7" was not available and projector lights only for European cars ....now available in late model cars ..........there was a bloke here who would take your originals and convert them ...using the normal reflector or blacked out ....and they were costing a fortune because of no 7" available and I think he was the only bloke here doing it
There is now a lot of cheap aftermarket ones available now which probably could waste your money ...
I use driving / spot lights with the same concept ...but are LED...

Think my stone guards would still fit?

I have Truck-lites installed on my 2011 Jeep Wrangler JKU. They are just terrific with lots of bright white light with an excellent cutoff so I'm not blinding oncoming drivers. Not sure I would like the appearance of the lights on my MGB. To me, they wouldn't look right, too much bling. I have Cibie H4 knockoffs from The Bus Depot which have nice curved glass vs the flat plastic of the Truck-lites.

Yes Carl, they would fit, I have a set of those BBQ gril things somewhere in the corner of my garage, took them from a car in 1987 of so, not my cup of tea to be honest.

I will be putting the Trucklites in my GT, I sell Trucklite, JW Speaker and Grote. Although I have never carried the Grote one. Trucklite looked after me on a set, so we will give them a try. I do have a set of the large squares (H6054) on a GM van, work good. I will have a Sebring LE50 front and a couple of other mods on the GT, so hopefully they won't look out of place.

I realize that this was a few years ago, but did you have to use an adapter for these lights? They look similar to the Truck-lite brand assemblies that I have been considering, but I am curious to know what additional parts you needed for this install.

The JW Speaker 8700 lights are awesome, but pricey. OTOH, have you priced a replacement lamp assembly for your late model car lately? Yikes!!

Funny to see my 5 y.o. topic popping up again.
So I looked on the JW Speaker website and found a nice newer product, probably only available in US spec. at the moment.

Hereby the weblink and even fitted in a CBB in one of the pictures, also the picture is uploaded herewith

I'm still enjoying the "clear" set - European spec - with DRL halo in my MGBGT-LE thumbs up
