In reply to # 3648715 by mgblestyle Will the 1 to 1 ratio of the smaller damper work well for cooling on the street? Enough low speed cooling on an 18V RB?

In reply to # 3647834 by Speedracer Yeah the rubber bumper cars has the larger one but the one off the early 18V will work even with the timing marks, as it is top timing pointer as well. I will use top timing stock pointer, however oif they have a bottom early pointer, I get rid of it and make a top pointer

Here's the race engine, It is early block, and early timing cover, so originally a bottom pointer that I converted to top pointer. I use the Pro Sport balancer, which is the same size as the early diameter (pre 1975) and then use the short 18V water pump, with the later RB MGB 18V water pump to get a 1 to 1 drive speed on the water pump.,

Yeah, just so we're on the same page, this is combination of the earlier size CB balancer, and the RB water pump pulley. The RB water pump was bigger, because it was paired with the later RB larger balancer. Yeah it going to keep water in the radiator a tick longer, so better from any standpoint, maybe other than idling, but if you have good fan, then it is fine as well. You can also now get those later type larger water pump pulleys in aluminum.

While we are on the subject, I ordered a new balancer in the spring during a rebuild of my B. received it from a Moss supplier.
What I found when I checked it to top dead center was that the mark on the pulley was off 10-12 degrees.
Had I not checked, I think I would have had all kinds of issues trying to set the timing.
So these new balancers need to be checked and adjusted if needed.
