Hi,

I'm looking for a good repair place or mechanic in the West Palm Beach area. I know about that guy down in Boynton Beach, but he's kinda far. Isn't there an antique repair place on Dixie Hwy between City Place and Southern Blvd?

thanks

Check with the Gold Coast British Sports Car Club. I use Alistair, the guy in Boynton Beach. Hes near where I live, but I'd still drive 30-45 minutes to go to his place. He knows his stuff.

Ha! Alistair did most of the restoration work on my car (but paid for by the PO). I know he's good, but I'm out in Wellington so was hoping for someplace closer. Just need a potentially bad alternator diagnosed. I've got some weird battery drain issue going on.

be happy if you have someone within a hundred miles or two.

In California they've all retired and died. (or near enough to be the same)<G>

Bottom line: be your own mechanic.

Small world! Wellington's not all that far away from Boynton Beach, but I do understand the desire to find someone closer. Hopefully you'll be able to find out about someone from the members here.

You could go to any Auto Parts Store to check the Alternator. Would not have to be a MG mechanic. But for the few extra miles and getting the job done right Alistar is the guy. There is a garage off Belvedere, where the Goldcoast Club goes for coffee and cars, I am sure they could be help also.

Hi Jim:

New Age Auto on Dixie and Belvedere is pretty good. They do mostly foreign stuff, and have a lot of business serving the unusual cars from the Island.

Or come by my house. I'm off Forest Hill Blvd.

Jim,
Drive the MGB to the nearest AUTOZONE or Advance Auto Parts in WELLINGTON, they test and diagnose your alternator for free.

Yep so true.

Foothill British car board meeting at the first of year as they are trying to find out who has not paid their dues

Board member: What happen to this guy?

Me: he didn't work on his own car, it became to much of a spend-fest for him, he sold it and bought a new BMW/Miata/S2000.

Board member: What happen to this guy?

Me: he bought a basket case Spitfire in a million pieces, and he has never gotten it back together, I heard he threw in the towell..

I do almost all my work myself and trust few to do things I can't... I highly recommend
G & C Foreign Cars Repair
Address: 1900 N Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach, FL 33407
Phone: (561) 833-8352

They redid a botched clutch replacement job by Palm Beach Transmission
(a total mess that I shouldn't have paid for - broke gas line, heater return pipe, spilling oil into cabin - etc. Ask if you want the full story).
Boynton is a great place too, but a bit far for me as well.

Haven't lived in WPB for 15 years now but I used a guy named Francis Warwick off Old Okeechobee Rd on Elizabeth Ave across from the City of WPB public works complex.
Not sure if he's still there but he did mostly British cars. Always loved poking around his parking lot for oddball cars. (561) 832-2907
