I found this stuff on the internet. Anyone have experience with Corroseal? give me your opinions. It says one based latex metal primer.

Can I put acrylic enamel over this?

Thank you for your response.

Jeff

Corroseal Rust Converter is an elite, industrial strength product for all marine, household, automotive, and industrial rust problems. Rust occurs naturally when the iron in steel oxidizes and returns to its original state, iron oxide. Through an innovative chemical conversion process, Corroseal Rust Converter converts rust (iron oxide) into a stable substance, magnetite. It also primes the surface with a high quality latex metal primer at the same time. Corroseal truly provides one step corrosion control. Corroseal features, water based rust converter with high quality latex metal primer, non-flammable, non-corrosive, Easy to apply (brush, roll, or spray), easy to cleanup with soap and water. I tried so many rustproofing and rustconverting solutions, I wonder whether I can list them all in one go by memory eye popping smiley

What I do remember straightaway are my dubious results with the converting types like Kurust & Trustan: remnants of the solvents being used have to be meticuluously removed, which is not so easy. Passivation types like Hammerite are much easier to use and are only to be applied with a first, special primer if used over alloy material. Other passivation ones like Zincplate or Coroless ly inbetween.

Remember that still the best solution of all is removing all rust and start with some layers of metal primer on the bare metal before painting over (if needed preceded by filling and sanding flat) eye rolling smiley
Personally I mainly use Hammerite for touch up repairs. I made some with a color not too far away from my body, so finishing with the original paint is easy. On black parts I use Hammerite only

Bought a bottle from Moss last year. Tested it out on the hitch receiver on our Honda Odyssey. Wire brushed it and applied Corroseal as per instructions, lasted about a year, all rusty again. Tim

Jasco Prep and Prime works. My son is project manager in a metal fabrication shop, and they use it all the time. Used it on my engine bay before painting - worked great.

You can get it at Lowes
