About a year ago I recall seeing a posting or an ad regarding a new style battery box cover with finger-operable quarter-turn fasteners. I did a little searching around and found something from Clark & Clark. Not sure this is the one I saw last year.

Question: Is this the current state of the art in box covers? Is everyone happy with it?

In my 1971 MGB roadster I have this Clarke and Clarke hinged battery cover and it is wonderful (Clarke and Clarke photos). I am using the MOSS drop in plastic battery bins and they too are working great, beware there are different bin part numbers varying by model year. My original metal battery boxes were rusted junk so I just cut them away, and installed a single 12v battery in the right side MOSS bin.

Clark and Clark are fine, but before ordering from their website, check their eBay offerings. Seller ID is obertro. For example, their battery bin is $49.95 plus $5.00 shipping on the Clark site and $39.95 plus $10.25 shipping on their eBay site. Go figure.

I too have their full-size hinged battery box cover and it's an incredible improvement over the stock cover. Their eBay price is $149.95 plus $17.17 shipping, and it's not currently available on their website.

I have the Clark & Clark single battery box cover. I bought the original prototype so I've probably had as much experience with it as anyone has and it is the bee's knees!

I always dreaded having to access the battery for any reason. Now it's so easy.

Sounds great, but who opens their battery box cover more than . . . rarely? I check my battery for corrosion maybe once a year. The other compartment has some spare oil, rags, and a few odds and ends that I never need to get at. Turning the existing fasteners once a year is not even slightly difficult.

I agree that these are the bees knees. But I still have a lot of other $250 spends before I can splurge on plastic boxes and covers.

I love 'em but they are in the, "For the MG that has everything" category for me.

I don't look at my battery even once a year and getting to the storage box under the carpet would likely be a PITA too.

On the GT I gotta pull the rear seat out as well - Jeesh...

Please always order direct from me, and not through eBay. Usually it is cheaper to order directly, but I will always match the eBay pricing in the few instances where it's not (including shipping). Sometimes the shipping cost varies according to the delivery location on eBay.

The Battery Bins that Moss and everyone else sell all come from me. They were my very first product back in 1989! I remember bringing the fiberglass prototype to University Motors back when they were on Eastern Ave, and John Twist's main concern was..."will it hold a 6-pack?" HA!

Photos below of the 12V Lid show the early design with the hinge on the PS. Now they are all hinged on the other side--due to feedback from this site saying the lid needs to not be in the way of the person accessing the battery from the passenger side.

Thank you Robert for making these great items. I use one side of mine for storage instead of the glove box since I don't have a liner in my glove box anymore. fitment is perfect.

Ordered my trans cover today for the OD swap today. Now I gotta have one of these!

I purchased a hinged cover from Moss to go along with a battery box. I like the hand operable zeus fittings.

Drew, I open my box frequently as I have installed a manual battery disconnect switch on a battery post. Whenever I believe I will not be driving the car for a while I will disconnect the battery so that the clock does not drain the battery.

Good job on the boxes Robert.

I have the dual lid, the fit was perfect, one box for the battery and one box for refreshments........perfect.
