My factory manual for the 1962 MGA mkII does not specify fuse amps. I pulled a blown 35 amp one out and was going to replace it with an Autozone one when I was warned (via web site) that I must use something called a "slow blow" fuse. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

You don't need a slow blow fuse. A standard AGC or a 3AG fuse will hold the current marked on the fuse, it will blow at an increasingly quicker rate as the current level goes up, until at a 100% over current, it will blow instantaneously. The closest American fuse to use in the cars is a 15 amp standard fuse - it will blow instantaneously at 30 amps. This is the same function as the British fuses that are rated at 17 amps. 17 amps is the hold amperage of the fuse and 35 amps is the instantaneous blow amperage. Bottom line - if you replace the fuse with a standard 35 amps fuse, the fuse will not blow instantaneously until it is passing 70 amps - a level that will incinerate the wiring harness.
