With all the new body filler out there I was wondering which one you use and the reason why?
I'm using USC 16400 Pro-Gold ES which goes on so nice, no pin holes and sand so nice. Wish it would take a longer time before it starts to set up. I need more time.

Don't we all.

As for the body filler, don't overdo the hardener. And once mixed, spread it thin on your mixing board. If left in a thick pile the heat will build up causing it to react & harden faster.

Bondo™ have a line of good 'consumer' grade products. I recently needed to 'build up' a shape section and their chopped strand glass reinforced putty filled the ticket.

Life's most persistent and urgent question is, "What are you doing for others?"

I do know is that the hardener and filler is mixed by weight.
So Erie will you answer my question on which filler do you use? I'm looking to see which is more liked over the others and why.

I bought some Evercoat brand at Advance Auto. Because it was handy, not because I know which brand is better.

I should add that as a vintage race car it is not a show car. My goal for body work is to make it a 'ten'. Looks good from 10 feet away or over 10 mph.

Optex is really as easy to sand as they claim. It's my favorite filler. It feather edges real nice too. It is hard to describe, but if sanding regular body filler is a 10 as far as difficulty goes, then Optex is a 4.5 or so.
