My kid, Viktor 2 years old loves to ride around the block in the Midget. The problem is that I don't dare go any longer tour with him on board. And when me and the Mrs go for a trip outside of the block, we have to have a babysitter that watches him while were away. I dont have safetybelts installed I should add. How do you ride with your kids/grandkids?

Depends on laws in your area. Hereabouts children under 70 pounds must be in a child restraint device, seat or booster. Never had an issue putting them in the MG. In the rear "parcel shelf" area it is flat out illegal pretty much anywhere in the USA... but you can ride in a pick-em-up truck bed (many places), go figure.
The reality is that I used to ride with my sister with my parents in our Sunbeam Alpine all the time on the interstate with no speed limit "back in the day." Hate to think what could have happened, but it didn't.
If I wanted to put a child seat on the parcel shelf (assuming it would fit), I'd check first with local authorities to find out if it was even legally possible before working out the details... a seat belt is easily and safely fit, that's the least of the problems.

I have a Sunshine Kids child seat with side impact and head protection (per manufacturer)
Child seat secured by 3-point belt I just installed in the factory locations. My little
girl is 21 months old and I'm comfortable around town (approx. 25 mph) but will never go
on the freeway.

Back in 1991 when I had my first Midget, when child restraint laws weren't very tight, my first 2, ages then 4 and 6 used to sit in the passenger seat with the belt around both of them. Got tired of hearing " she's touching me and he's touching me". So it was time for a bigger ride. Should had mothballed it,along with my 69 Mach 1, 68 Merc. Cyclone, 65 V8 4 speed Falcon, 40 & 41 Chevys, the list goes on!

the only problem i have with my kids is they want to drive my car. my son gets his license soon and i'm sure he will want to borrow the car for the day. will probably let him, he was born a good driver. we started him at 2 in a power wheels then by 3 he was on the riding lawnmower (NOT WITH THE BLADES ENGAGED, by the time he was 7 or 8 he was driving my dads full size bronco. it took everything he had to reach the pedals. half standing, holding himself up on the steering wheel braced with left leg, right leg stretched as far as he could to reach the gas. it was a funny sight for sure. he is small for his age. i might note that he only drove on the property and never more than 10 miles an hour. also he can back any trailer better than most men. still surprises me. i know he will be very careful in my midget. he loves that car almost as much as i do and hopes to inherit it someday. my daughter on the other hand, driving did not come natural to her and will take her much practice to get the shifting down. but she also loves my car. it's very possible that they will end up with their own mg's before too long. once you get one you come across them all the time. going to put the 77 B on the road next summer just for the kids to use for fun.

No matter how you look at it, our Midgets are two seater, so all three of you can not ride in it at the same time. Like others have said, in the old days you could get someone behind the seats but those days are gone. I have a car seat and use the car seat belt to strap it down per the car seat instructions if you have a problem you can go to any fire department and they will help you install the car seat.
I take my daughter all the time in my Midget, she loves it she thinks it is her car. She is three now and I started taking her when she was one. One thing is she behaves better in the Midget the she does in any other car, that maybe because she is in the front seat and feels like she is a big girl, ether way she loves it and thinks it is a big roller coaster yelling weeeee a lot and always want me to join in. I can say we both love our time together in the car; I do take her on the freeways and do not have a problem with it. I guess if I felt it was unsafe for her I would feel it was unsafe for me.
No matter what we do there is always risks and I just do not believe in living in fear of what might happen if I did I would miss a lot in life. With that said stay safe drive safe when you have others with you keep the racing to the tracks.
Have fun!

BMC had an optional child's seat and even harder to believe is I've seen one. Someone with a MK Sprite has one. It fits between the seats. Of course, it's way below current standards, but if you can get one, it would be original factory equipment. Isn't the British term for the area behind the seats, the Kiddy cupboard? Therefore, lay them down and bind them in.
