Last time when I was driving my Midget after sitting in garage for several years i experienced erratic driving (no backfire) when the car had been driven for some time and the engine was warm. I am wondering if this is an electrical (ignition) or maybe fuel problem ?

Old gas? Could also be a weak coil or condenser

Do you have electronic ignition?

As mentioned, old gas will cause all kinds of problems.

First, do a tune up and get one of Jeff's "bulletproof" condensers (see the Buy, Sell & Trade forum). Bucking is a classic symptom of a condenser going south.
