The TD has a plywood board for the dash, covered with Rexine (a sort of oil cloth), with a central metal panel for smaller instruments and switches. The TF dash is all steel, again with a central metal panel, and is very difficult to replace with wood. About 15 years ago I saw a picture of a red car with a wooden dash, but I didn't like it very much. Wooden door inserts made for the two cubby-holes, with locks, are not uincommon, but only one entire TF dash in wood.
The metal dash is svelte and curvaceous; the wooden one looked - well, wooden.
