I know someone knows the answer to this. I have the 71 MGB with chrome wires but really like the look of mini-lites.
Anyone know the easiest way to convert to discs?

Change front hubs. Change entire rear axle.

You can buy centrelock Minilite clones - no need to change hubs unless your splines are worn. There are numerous topics on how to check your hub splines. Centrelock "minilites" cost more than bolt-on but this is offset by not having to buy bolt-on hubs etc.

Mk1: CKD 11/66 first registered 8/5/67; owned since 3/77. 18GB +40 balanced. Peter Burgess BVFR head. Piper 285. 123. FidanzaFW. 4synch c/r box. Lots more as I did a nut and bolt rebuild; finished 2015. Tartan Red.

GT: December '78. VW Golf guards, flush fit front and rear valances. Torana XU1 vents, frenched indicators & Mk1 rear lights. 'Worked' Rover V8 with Monsoon ECU for EFI. GM4L60E, Lokar tiptronic & Quick4 controller. Vintage Air A/C. FC IFS. CCE 4 link rear. Salisbury with Quaife. Jaguar Storm.

Barrie is probably correct unless you can get the bolt on hubs cheap, on the rear you will need 3/4” spacers to get the correct track width when using a wire wheel axle.

Barrie is correct about centre-lock wheels being the absolute easiest way to make the change, with one caveat. Putting new centre-lock wheels on old worn hubs can ruin the new wheels. Look in the MGE library for the tutorial on how to check the splines on your hubs. If they aren't showing wear, centre-lock alloys are a great way to go. I bought mine about 15 years ago, and it was the best modification I've made yet.
The other side of the coin, is to change the front and rear hubs to bolt on hubs. Be aware that the wire wheel rear axle is more narrow than the bolt on axle, but that can be a positive thing. On my GT, I changed the hub, added longer wheel studs and spacers and that allows me to run six inch wheels without rubbing the fender. There is also quite a bit about this modification in the library.

Have fun

What I have done for about 45 years now is change the hubs from W/W to S/W find a set of Datsun/Nissan 240-260-280z wheels use 185-70-14 tires & all fits well, 195 tires will rub I like the Aluminum slot wheels

Another option which I did on the rear, although not the easiest, was to cut down and modify the existing wire wheel rear hubs to be bolt on. Spacers and longer studs of course required.
