I had a 2008 VW Beetle convertible with I believe a Stayfast top. Back then I searched what to use and Ragg Topp was recommended to be used with a soft brush. What I got was RAGGTOPP convertible top care kit Cleaner and Protectant Twin Pack. It says tested and endorsed by Haartz the world's leading manufacturer of convertible topping. Others can recommend what they use.

Oops, I should have mentioned that is an inexpensive Moss / Robbins or Amco top.
Seems like a dumb question but I am leery of using something that is too harsh.

I use a local product that was developed by some clever industrial chemists. https://www.bowdensown.com.au/products/exterior/sublime-clean
It is not harsh and produces outstanding results. Safe with canvas tops and does not affect stitching or the plastic in the rear window.

Len, I thought that Resolve was grease remover? Renovo I have used and it is also very good on fabric hoods https://www.renovointernational.com/car-care/soft-top-cleaner.php

Lew's suggestion, as usual, hit the mark.
I am happy to report that my 20 year old Stayfast hood looks brand new after using Resolve.
Step 1. Spray Resolve covering a small area.
Step 2. Wait 5 minutes for it to soak in. As it soaks in it will spread out as well as darken the fabric.
Step 3. Use a clean cloth (I used a new lint-free cloth) to rub the wet area. As you rub the Resolve will instantly foam up and will be an astonishingly bright white color. Rub for 45 to 60 seconds.
Step 4. Use a clean cloth (I used a second lint-free cloth) to remove the white foam. Depending on how much Resolve you sprayed on you may need to rinse out the cloth to continue removing the foam.
Step 5. When the foam is gone, or nearly gone, I used a third, and dry, lint-free cloth to finish the cleaned area.
Step 6. Let dry overnight.
FUN FACT: Not only will the hood look great it will have a nice smell.
Thank you, Lew.
