Does anyone know or can tell me where or what are the dimension on the height of the water pump? I just trashed my radiator from the fan blades. When I say height or tall meaning the measurements from the mounting to the nose. 1970 MGB 1800 engine.

I can't give you dimensions but I've always understood this from Moss determines which water pump you need to use. If there's a clash between your fan and radiator something else is wrong.

Mk1: CKD 11/66 first registered 8/5/67; owned since 3/77. 18GB +40 balanced. Peter Burgess BVFR head. Piper 285. 123. FidanzaFW. 4synch c/r box. Lots more as I did a nut and bolt rebuild; finished 2015. Tartan Red.

GT: December '78. VW Golf guards, flush fit front and rear valances. Torana XU1 vents, frenched indicators & Mk1 rear lights. 'Worked' Rover V8 with Monsoon ECU for EFI. GM4L60E, Lokar tiptronic & Quick4 controller. Vintage Air A/C. FC IFS. CCE 4 link rear. Salisbury with Quaife. Jaguar Storm.

There are two MGB 5 main water pump, 65-71 (long nose) and 72-80 You can tell by the water pump pullet which one you have.

The short w/p for 72-80 has the more shallow w/p (1st and second pics) 2nd pic shows where a machine off the smog pump belt groove

The long w/p for 65-71 (pictures 3-7 show the early long pump pulleys, both early one groove non smog pump pulley and as well the last picture show the 68-71 long pump two groove pulley.for use with the smog pump

Last but not least, you can't mix and match pulleys, the short, and long water pump will only work with correct long or short pump pulleys. So by showing you the differences in the pulleys, you should be able to tell which pump you have.

Hope this helps.

I seem to recall different length screws and if you don't recall which went where just measure the depth
