I have an uncle who served in WWII. He made it home but was killed by a drunk driver as he was hitchhiking home from Philadelphia to Millville, NJ. God bless his soul, may he RIP.
At least he wasn't eaten by a cannibal in New Guinea after his aircraft was shot down... Did you hear about that?
Probably the only WWII hero consumed in this fashion. Don't believe it? Just perform an internet search.
Simply amazing!!!! I thought I'd heard it all until this claim was made.... We have an old saying in the military; "And the Sh!t gets deeper".
Just sayin'
Those who confuse Burro and Burrow don't know their @ss from a hole in the ground...

The Japanese both ate POWs and forced POWs to eat other POWs.
Pretty common. The story is President Bush was shot down. He made it out over water. There was a race between Japanese on the island and a US submarine. If the sub had lost the race they would have eaten Bush.

Years ago I read "THE AIRMEN AND THE HEADHUNTERS: Unlikely Rescue by Heimann 2007".
A bomber crash lands in Borneo and most of the crew survive. From memory; fortunately missionaries had been on the island for some years and the headhunters weren't quite as vicious as in the past. The missionaries convinced the headhunters that Americans were good and the Japanese tasted good. The headhunters helped the fliers and the Allied war effort.
I think. I read it several years ago and decided that Borneo was NOT a place that I cared to visit.
The important thing is not to get ahead, but to get along.

Research what ??.. American pilot ??..Australian Pilot ? Native cannibalism ?...or Japanese cannibalism / or potentially Australian cannibalism ?... or was it just a war time tall tale of a rumour ?...otherwise put in a link if there is a real story you read yourself ...
That would not have been an isolated event at all ?....if true ,within that theatre of warfare there at the time……………. If native , then with Indigenous Tribes and their habitat and customs …enter at your own risk ! …and there was villages and tribes who never saw any part of the war and never ever knew what it was about in PNG …cannibalism was also a central part of their religion / beliefs so to speak … Cannibalism events there were still being reported in the 60’s and will still probably be happening somewhere else in the world …like Borneo / Sarawak as mentioned . ….Sth America ?...so it really isn’t that amazing to consider
The fuzzy wuzzy angels as they were known also carried for the Japanese forces !.It was a major BS propaganda push by Australia to convince the natives about the Japanese with false promises from the Allies …not unlike in Europe !...Well it wasn't BS about the japanese but BS to get them on side with control ..The indentured ones , other than NVGR and PIB ( local native voluntary rifles ) were never recognised for their input until recently !..but recruitment was by way of 'Force majeur'.as their documentation referred to . ( forced labour ) “ must be used if necessary “ under Australian / British rule (ANGAU) ..( also reminds me of something the same happening in Europe ! LOL ) …The Allies, ..Australian and American never did treat them well or follow through with promises made with restitution , relocation to places of origin etc as they took control of their Rubber and Copha plantations .They ( the plantations ) were never returned to them !!..and a lot of them never got to return to their families / fellow villagers till the duration !
Force recruited for the provision of scouts, intelligence reporters , coastwatchers , carriers or labourers , ( in their own f….n plantations ) the collection of wounded and the assisting of crashed aircrews . Issued passes and couldn’t now freely travel between towns / villages ..otherwise subject to imposed ANGAU laws and punishment..parents now imprisoned if they didn’t force their kids to attend Seven day Adventist mission schools ..( in war-time FFS ! ) .
There was a lot more to all this if one really does wish to research factual things about wartime theatre in PNG and with how things really went down from the Allies , natives and Japanese , ( “Villagers at war “ Neville K Robinson ….or ” Papua New Guinea Association of Australia “ ….I think even I would want to eat him if I was a native !!..and their Cannibalism is not as in the movie “ Alive “ …apparently old mate would have ended up as brain soup mixed with ginger, cinnamon and bark! LOL
Cannibalism then with WWII in tribal Jungles , ..just another method of Western civilization’s arrogance of power and war time control and mistreatment being held accountable with cultural tradition .. …” better run through the jungle ….and don’t look back again “ ( CCR ) ! LOL
Now they are realizing their mistake also with the Chinese and the sell off !..who would have referred to the Uber eats bloke as " Dia Zou " ..LOL
