I've repainted the '74 roadster and need to replace the vinyl on the cowling just in front of the dashboard, but I can't seem to find the original black vinyl. It was very thin, similar (or same) as what you may have seen on the old 1970's Landau tops. Every sample I have received has been thick upholstery vinyl with a thick fabric backing, which won't work as well as the original stuff. I'm concerned as the front edge is actually under the windshield to body seal. Anyone know of a supplier? Thanks!

Try a regular fabric store. MOSS used to stock it. Have you looked at their site. ???

I got some from Amazon by the name of Torrami. It has a nice leather grain texture, very soft and pliable and the thickness is 0.95 mm or .037 inches.

I found that the local fabric-type stores' vinyl were too thick, with a lot of unnecessary padding. I searched online high and low for vinyl with 4-way stretch features. I ordered a sample from youautotrim.com/fowaystvisa.html and liked what I saw/felt. I ordered my vinyl there for doing the entire interior of my GT project. I wanted the 4-way stretch for doing the cant rails. As selection of interior products are highly subjective, YMMV. I think it was worth the $3.50 just to find out.
