I am going to be pulling my project MGB GT on a Uhaul tow dolly.
The wiring harness is out other car so I'm trying to wire it up with a four wire trailer harness. Problem is my brake lights are amber as they are on the same wire as the signals.
Any thoughts on how I can correct this.
Thanks in advance.

Refer to the wiring diagram to see which wires you need to tie to. Stop lights should be Red not orange!

Or buy a pair of inexpensive towing red lights from Harbor freight or Amazon!

I agree, go get some from Harbor Fright for $10 and connect them to your battery.

A tow dolly? Why not a carrier?

When diagnosing issues related to running and stalling, always check to see if you have gas in the tank first.

In reply to # 4783498 by Bob Allen A tow dolly? Why not a carrier?

The OP said it wasn’t a running vehicle, harness is out of the car. Probably expecting it will be easier to push the car onto or jack the front up to get it on the dolly versus trying push the entire car onto a hauler. Cost could be a factor too!

Nothing is ever easy!

I have read about a few issues with using a tow dolly on a B. Something about pulling the drive shaft.

Thanks for the replies. Yes drive shaft has been dropped.Depending on the tow vehicle Uhaul limits what equipment they will rent you. Was trying to use existing taillights but upon further review I would need separate flasher and brake light wires, which a four wire trailer harness doesn't have. Flasher and brake are on the same wire. So magnetic lights it is.
Thanks again for the input.
Always appreciated.

U haul dollies have integrated 4 way plug lights.

That are fender mounted and you probably don't need them functioning on the vehicle.

At least on the one I rented.

The front tires strap down and the whole thing swivels on turns. Very nicely designed

But no front jack so once it is mounted to the trailer hitch and car loaded, there is no way to easily take the dolly off the hitch

Verify lubrication on axles and parking break off and brakes not seized in drums

If using flat trailer, or dolly verify the width will accommodate the narrow stance of the MG .

If just connecting to the GT car lamps at the rear using the bullet connectors I believe you have what you need.

Red circle is common brake connection that needs to be opened up and separate the brake lights (probably already out if harness is gone) or just pull the wires at the bullet connectors at the rear of the GT and connect trailer wiring there.

Use the Green/Purple wires for brake lights.
Don't really need Amber lights to work - brake lights will flash when turn signal is applied but you could also wire the brake/turn wires (Yellow and Green) to the respective amber light and have both Red and Amber come on during braking or turn signal operation.
Brown wire can be wired to the Red wires for running lights if towing at night.
You'll need a ground from the trailer connector to each lamp if the car lamp grounds are disconnected otherwise you could just run one ground to the car chassis.

BE SURE the steering lock on the car is disabled or off so the front wheels can turn and be careful how sharp you turn.
