It’s been a long while since I’ve been on, but the MG is still running great.
That said, I head a squeak/small clunk noise coming from the back corner of the car as I went over bumps. When I was parked, I bounced the back side and heard a squeak. I then pulled the back wheel off and looked around. I tightened the 2 bolts on the damper (not much movement there), looked at the bottom plate where the arm/platform connects to the center of the leaf spring, no issues. But… I notice that I can move the connecting rod bushing a bit back and forth (there is a bit of a tunk noise, maybe 1/8-1/16”). I tried tightening the connector (as shown in the photo), there’s no more thread and it starts torquing the bushing.
I’ve been out of this for a while, hope someone can chime in and give me some thoughts on next steps (or other things to check).
Thanks, gang.

If you suspect the drop link is bad, remove it and go for a test drive. The most common place I've seen these fail as the rubber in the ball at the bottom gives up.
The top of the link is a taper fit, so no reason to crank down on the nut, mechanic tight is fine. It may be that the rubber has given up on that end.

That bushing is bonded to its housing. It is not supposed to rotate like that; when it does it’s very noisy, as you’re finding out.
Time to get a new link like Russ shows.
Pogo is right.

I've had bad luck with the quality of the rubber bushing in new replacement links. They all seem to have crapped out after about a year. Decent used one or NOS are likely better, thought could be harder to find. I see Moss has an "improved " one that may actually be better...
