If originality is not an issue, I use a bonded washer. A bonded washer has an O ring bonded to the ID. A local auto parts store should have them. I get mine from Amazon.
I use them in several places on the engine and trans.

Charles - Those washers here but I can't think of what we call them off the top of my head. Now I know the size I can check so see if any of the ones I have in my box will fit.

Sometimes that are also called dowdy washers. I find that they are a Godsend for connections that are difficult to seal.
