Someday, when they age out, or just as a prevent replacement, I'll want some solid core plug wires.
Have no problems currently.
Running a points ignition.
Side entry cap with 7mm ports, I like the side entry due to the wire routing plane.
With this side entry cap, the plug wire must be stripped back to expose (preferably a solid core) conductor for the screw terminal of the cap's posts.
Just cut off the crimped end terminal and add the boots to the "might use this someday bin".
Other than the stock RVC 1410/01 tach, no other electronics or radio, so RF interference is not an issue.
Question is:
What brand solid core do you spark lovers recommend?
90 degree spark plug boots preferred.
I know there are some high dollar sets available, but I just want a decent set ($30 maybe) for my around town runner.
Thanks in advance

I used bumble bee wire, with a screw in side entry cap and screw on plug caps (with "Champion" white lettered on.
Although the screw connections are not fancy, the A series engine doesn't need a lot of spark to run well and they never caused any trouble even when sometimes loose.

No issue with solid core wire and screw in cap? Does it actually penetrate the wire or just contact it? Thought I had heard that screw in wouldn't work with solid wire. (Is it a single wire or braided?)

Stranded core wire, stripped back a bit to expose bare wire core.
Connects properly to compression screw terminal in side entry dizzy cap.

Haven't seen a Midget cap style but others I have seen and used have a small copper disk with a hole in the assembly.
The cable goes through the screw in connector, wire goes through the hole in the copper disc and is splayed out in a 360 degree fan pattern, the connector then screws into the Cap.
No way you don't have a connection using that method.

Screw POST caps and brass washers aew used on the TD series ignition. Side enthry caps, don't use brass washers. Wire is stuck in and a ?POINTED> end screw pierces the wire insulation for the connection. Cheers.

I've never missed.
Side entry caps have been around since the beginning guys. Look at the pars manuals. All Sprites and Midgets came out of the factory with side entry caps. Remember, in the home market the steering column is on the right and a top entry cap will not clear the steering column. To keep things simple all cars originally had a side entry cap. The hole in the cap is 7 mm which is the same size as the original spark plug wires (imagine that ). You push the wire in the hole and tighten the screw.

SHORT MEMORY: About three weeks ago, there was a big long discussion about the "Side Entry Cap", a member bought, (Went with the cheaper AM cp instead of Lica). People STILL buy the cheaper one rather than quality. and his wires didn't fit. That's the problem. Some of the Premium wire sets. ????? Maybe bigger than 7mm, won't seat all the wy in the cap. Also, how many times do people get the firing order wrong when installing a side entry cap? Pretty common. Just some observations. Cheers.
