My Midget has 2 SU carbs with AUC870/AUC871 stamped on the body. But they have a little label AUD502F & AUD502R screwed on the float chamber.
I had to remove these labels because the were worn and almost came loose.
What is the story between these different labeling of the carbs and is it possible to get new aluminium labels AUD502R & AUF502F?

The cast numbers are just the part number of those component parts . The little tags held on by the screw are the identifier of the carb assembly. The "F" and the "R" indicate front and rear carb. If you know the VIN of your MG (or the model year) you can order the correct parts.
Note that throughout the production of the 1275 there were only a few changes made to the carbs which affected the carb bodies themselves: the 10/'71 change from ported to manifold vacuum for the distributor advance (the little nipple was added 7/'67 and then deleted from the front carb body 10/'71), and the addition of the PCV port at the base of both carbs (sometimes called the "Y" pipe) connected to the breather at the front of the engine adopted 10/'69 in California and 9/'70 for the rest of the country.
The other changes were all components easily swapped out during a rebuild: needles, jets, throttle plates, piston damper springs. This means that so long as you have those first two items you can make a pair of carbs for any model year by what you choose to order during a rebuild.
The greatest source for SU Carb parts is Burlen Systems, the current owner of SU. Their print catalog is an excellent resource.
