Diving deeper into the refresh.
The rear end squeeks; will replace the springs and the damper control arms and the assorted hardware- I have a line on some decent bushes.
The front of the engine rattles. It’s possibly the timing chain assembly or the fan bushings are toast. There is some engine slop ( will replace the motor mounts).
The brakes are ok- no pulling nor summarising but they are a bit weak. I’ve replaced the cylinders shoes hoses and pads- the master cylinder is fine.
So….

Supporting rear of the car- any advice?

DuplexTiming chain kit ( 5bearibg engine in the GT) , where to buy? I’ve heard some tensioners are rubbish, any tips on the oil seal?

Would new OEM (Lockheed) calipers help?

Supporting rear of the car = trolley jack under the diff and then axle stands either side

Duplex Timing chain kit source = The Mgbhive, MGOC, Welsh MG Centre, Rimmers or one of the reputable suppliers most UK owners in the know use.

Would new OEM (Lockheed) calipers help? - Depends on the state of yours. If in doubt you could go for a rebuilt pair of calipers on an exchange basis.

If you have the early single circuit brakes you could always update to the dual circuit master cylinder & pedal box. Shout if you do that as Ive a full set of brake pipes for dual circuit I bought and dont need, gathering dust.
