Good morning,
In an attempt to deal with a squeaky rear end I’m going to replace the springs. The dampers are new. I’ve been on to Rimmer brothers- there are a number of options. I’m a purist in many ways but would like advice on which ones to get and which bushings? As I don’t have a press can they come prebushed?

Leaf springs come with front eye bushings. For the spring pads and the shackle bushings, get the poly/graphite ones that self-lubricate. Much less than the red or blue pure poly ones the big retailers sell and they self-lubricate to reduce squeakage. I an unsure where to get them in the UK - they're made here in the USA. If you've got a friend coming over soon, I could mail a set to where they'll be to toss in their luggage for you. Basil 707.762.0974 basiladams#@yahoo.com

I used Basil's B bushings and his leaf springs awhile back and can honestly say "Albert " is the poster child for his quality stuff. Very straight springs

Looks like "Albert" is riding pretty high in the rear. That's a common problem with new MGB rear springs nowadays.

Measuring from center of hub to bottom of trim strip should be close to 14-14.5" all around for a level CB.

You may find that unless your springs are damaged or worn out, the metal quality in the OE spring is better than most anything you can find in the non-custom built after market. If your car sits squarely, consider disassembling the spring packs, clean and paint the springs (if you like painted springs), and reassemble with a new centering bolt and bushings.

Just a thought.
