I have a GPS speedometer and I want to remove the speedometer cable. Looking for ideas to effectively plug the resulting hole in the transmission (80B, OD transmission).

Leave the drive where it is. Go to the hardware store and buy the correct size plastic cap found in the plumbing department.

I found a big rubber vacuum cap, like for blanking off a power brake booster fitting, at the auto parts store that fit right on. I also secured it with a hose clamp. Been on there probably 9 years with no issues.

I could 3D print you a plug/cap if you sent over a sketch with dimensions. Would take about 5 minutes.

Or, if you can't find the correct size cap at the plumbing or hardware store you could just slip in a little piece of something like plastic wrap to protect the workings and then stuff the hole with plumbers putty.

Take the locking ring off the cable and put a rubber disk in it and reinstall it. No?
