Claimed to be one-owner until now in a dealer's hands, this auction will be interesting. It's a pretty car and the color combination and history add to its appeal. But the patina looks more like rust, can't tell if it's surface or deeper. And video shows that the oil pressure isn't healthy, low with engine cold- what would it be if the engine is hot?

I doubt that is truly a "cold" start, the temp gauge is already off the peg. But the driving video also shows the oil pressure about 20 psi at road speeds. This makes me think the oil pressure gauge is not accurate. But that should be checked with a known accurate gauge.

Nice car.
But, I don't think it is as original as they say. Lots of Moss motors parts, and shiny bits. Replaced door seals, with no rubber on them at all. Of course those doors close great. The dash knobs have been replaced with terrible repos, etc.
My MGA MkII is more original, and I have 70 lbs of oil pressure.

I like the car, but lets call it mostly original. I'm surprised that there's no mention of a full respray, but clearly more was repainted other than a door & rocker panel. And then there's the odd hydraulic line installed which looks like a replacement for the original clutch line. But the one thing that gets me is that all 4 overriders are upside down. One would think that all the visuals would be corrected before a few hundred photos are taken and any mechanical issues would be sorted out to avoid questions of engine condition. Still its a MKII, and I'd expect that they will have a buyer.

The dealer did a few things to boost the oil pressure to "a little over 40 pounds at 3,000 rpm." In my years of MG ownership, that still seems low. What do you think?
Also, someone must really want the car, as it had a high bid of $5,500, then someone bid $30,000.

Doesn't he say around 40 at hot idle? He didn't show what it was at higher RPM which would have been interesting as if it doesn't get any higher, that would be concerning..
Also would be interesting to see what it is with the dash gauge plumbed in which was showing the original low pressure.
