1979 MG Midget MkIV "Basketcase"
Selling a Midget/Spitfire 3-Rail Gearbox with a D-Type Overdrive.

Bought this all as a set back in October 2023 intending on putting it in my 1978 Midget rebuild, but at the time I didn't know it was a 3-Rail vs a single rail, and I had already bought a bunch of parts for the single rail, so I ended up getting my hands on a single rail overdrive unit instead and now need to get this unit sold to free up some space.

While it is not assembled, best I can tell everything is there to make it work. I popped open both the gearbox and overdrive unit to inspect them and everything appears to be in good shape. The gearbox shifts into all gears and spins freely in all gears. The overdrive itself spins freely and seems to be in decent shape. The output shaft has some staining on it, but it appears to only be superficial.

Also includes wiring, relays, mounts, and shifter. I can also throw in a shift knob I've got laying around if I can find it.

Gearbox and overdrive unit are drained of all fluids and I have the internals coated in fluid film to protect them.

More images can be seen HERE.

Just trying to get what I paid for it back. $950 plus whatever shipping is. Can also do pickup in the Mesa/Phoenix AZ area and pickup in San Diego CA can also be coordinated.
