Doug Here,

I have a Motive Products power brake bleeder I have used successfully on other cars but
I don’t have an adapter for my Lockheed TD brake reservoir. The cap threads are approximately 1.0625” in diameter.
Motive sells an adaptor called the 1110 Classic British Bleeder. 25mm?
https://www.motiveproducts.com/products/classic-british-bleeder
I’m wondering if anyone has tried this product?
Thank you
Doug

I just noticed a similar post on the Motive Adapter from 2013.
The 1157 Old English Adapter apparently is the correct one.
Anyone tried this?
It looks like a male thread instead of the female on the 1110.
Thank you

I always make my own adapters, either a good rubber bung, or a turned wooden plug and a length of cycle inner tube over the tapered part to form a seal.
Air comes from a compressor, only around 5 psi needed, or, a part inflated spare tyre.

Mike.

ps have you considered installing a remote reservoir, easy to check, top up, and a good safety upgrade?

Hi Mike,
I may get a used cap, drill it and solder in a tube adapter.
The Motive adapter costs $45!
Where would a 2nd reservoir be located?
Thank you
Doug

i would think a common bicycle pump, even a tiny one designed to be carried in a pack while riding, would come in handy...

Hi Huey,
I have the pump:
Motive Products - 0100 European Power Brake Bleeder Kit
I’ve had it for quite some time and it has a pressure gauge. It works fantastic, especially for more modern ABS equipped car, but expensive.
However the supplied end adapter is for a 45mm female European, the Lockheed on the TD is 25mm male.
I’ll try to make my own adapter or do it “old school” and rally a friend to help.
Thank you
Doug

hi Doug

several brake reservoir options, if you’re concerned about the looks, get a vintage style metal reservoir, otherwise a modern plastic one is fine, with the added advantage of capable of being fitted with a level switch , which I have done.
I fitted an l.e.d warning light in one of the power takeoff sockets. See my photo below, plenty of others have alternatives, just do a search on the forum, or even a google.

cheers

Mike

Impressive set up!
I’ll investigate that for my car.
Thanks Mike.

I also have one of Declan's excellent reservoirs plumbed into my engine compartment. Having just renewed all my brake lines I have been doing a fair bit of bleeding to check for any leaks. I have Speedy Bleeders on each wheel and a one-person bleed kit. It works ... but ...

I would rather use the Motive Bleeder that I have had for 10 years, but finding a spare large Girling cap (circa 2.5" ID) to fit an adaptor to is the challenge. They are around, but not here and the cost from overseas is not commensurate with the value. I like Mike's suggestion of making something up and I am interested in any other suggestions or examples?

Have you replaced your fuel cap, dear friend?
In black, the tank is more discreet.
Is it Declan's?
Sincerely, Thierry from Ardèche, South of France

I don't think the black cap is mine but I do offer a free STL file so a spare cap can be 3D printed to accomodate a pressure bleeder.
Regards
Declan
