Solved
My 1981 Avanti II has bolt on wire wheels. Center caps were missing from the wheels when I got the car.

One wheel had this pot metal ring on the hub and I found another one, along with two 2 knock off style spinners, in the trunk. The rings act as centering spacers to fit the spinners to the wheels. The spinner attaches to the wheel with a bolt and washer through the back of the hub to the threaded point in the center of the spinner.

I was able to find a set of spinners on ebay but I need two more rings. Internet searches have not been successful.
I suspect that may be because I'm not sure what to call the rings. I'm not even sure this application is what they are actually made for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pot metal ring:
outside diameter: 3"
diameter of the recessed area: 2 1/2"
inside diameter: 2 3/16"
depth of recessed area: 1/4"

Ring fitted to the wheel:

Bare hub of wheel:

Ring fitted inside spinner:

Bolt & Washer to hold spinner to wheel:

If you took one to a machine shop they could probably duplicate it for you. 3D printing might be another option, especially if it doesn't have to be metal. Since it appears to be just a spacer plastic might work just fine.

Dave, Borrani & Dayton both made wire wheels for Avanti cars. Not sure about the Daytons but I believe Borrani clearly stamps their rims for ease of identification. Perhaps one of these manufacturers could help you out if you could i.d the wheel brand.

I had an old Corian cutoff in the garage so I used that to make them up.
3 sizes of hole saws and a trim router and they turned out OK.
Not perfect but they did the job.

Thanks Nick. I did check both Dayton and Borrani websites but no luck there.
Finally I just figured I'd try to make them myself.
