I was looking for the source of a small oil leak on my 1974 MGB roadster and noticed a “nipple” on the rear carburetor that had nothing attached. In trying to figure it out myself it seems it is the float vent and the vent line is attached to a fuel connection. This does not make sense, what am I missing? I attached a couple of pictures, hopefully they help.

Robert, do you have a pic of the rear carburetor connections? On mine I think something is not connected.

Carl

I copied this picture off another thread as it shows the connections well. Bruce (riley1489) provided this picture as he does frequently, and it shows how yours should be. The hard line connects the two carburetor float bowl vents and there is a “tee” in the line towards the rear that would then go to the evap canister. From looking at your photo, I wonder if the hard line shown is incorrectly connected to the fuel inlet?

I was addicted to the hokey pokey but I turned myself around.

It looks like you have the vent hose to the charcoal canister connected to the end of the throttle shaft. Move it over to the open tube.

Here's my 'before' picture of that area.

John and all, I haven’t gone out to actually look but I think the vent hose is connected to the throttle spindle shaft!! confused smiley if this correct, that maybe why I’m getting a fuel odor once in a while, the vent line is not connected.

I maybe all wet but I hope not, any of you have an opinion?

To all who commented or viewed my thread, the hose was incorrectly connected to the spindle shaft. I guess my old age clouded my brain and transmitted to my hands.
