Hello, I’ve owned my 1974 MG Midget for around 3 years now but unfortunately i crashed it a year in and it’s been sitting for the last 2.

I’ve finally got the car back from the Garage and when I start the engine starts fine but as soon as I return the key to the running position the engine cuts off. (The engine will only stay on while the starter is running)

Things I have already tried…
1) I have tried running a wire directly from the ignition switch terminals straight to the battery as I thought a wire might have corroded. (That didn’t work)
2) I’ve checked my earths as best as I could. (Didn’t work)

The car already has electronic ignition system and was running perfectly 6 months ago.

Please help!

You got it back from the garage and it won’t run?
Why not take it back to the garage and have them make it right?

The garage the Car was at was just a body shop. The issue came about while it was stored/moved to the Body shop.
