I have the electrical wire harness for my 1977 MG midget. The previous owner ripped out the wiring and I do not know where to start. Does anybody have any photos or labels that will show where each connect goes thank you.

Doesn't the 77 have a 2 piece harness? Eng and Dash? I thought I read where they did that at some point.
If so, both or which one?
Do you have a Schematic?
If so it will tell you a lot of the layout by tracking wire colors, laying it out in place, seeing the connector types, and then fine tune with info here.

Wiring up a car for first time seems daunting but really it’s not so difficult. Follow the wiring diagram…slowly but surely you will connect one device, then the next…you will get there. All the info you need can found by searching in google “mgexp and the specific thing you are stuck on and you will find/learn your way forward…many have gone before you

I've never done it, but I think I'd start by laying the harness out in the comfort of my living room floor. Compare it to the wiring diagram and work out what each connector is, and LABEL IT.
That would be a really good place to begin.
Maybe make a list of all of those connections that you need to make. Do you know WHAT each connection is? If not, research that so you know what you're dealing with. Also at this point, decide if there are any connections you're NOT going to make? Deleting things like seatbelt warning lights, buzzers, EGR light, etc. Mark those off of your list, and if you're not up to just cutting off the connector from your harness, at least tape it to the harness so that you will know that it's not used.
Then, I'd CLEAN the car. Get into all of those places you're going to have to work, and clean everything so you're not working in 50 years of dust and grime.
Once you've done that preparatory work, the rest shouldn't be so bad.

This job is actually much easier than you would think if looking at that pile of wire-spageti in a bag.
Start by doing a Google image search for 1977 "MG midget wiring harness routing". Should get a bunch of pics. Then change the search to "1977 MG midget engine bay wiring" Keep doing this until you have a good idea of how the harness goes in place. Take your time and study how and where the harness is clipped to the body and try to mimic that route
Once the harness is roughly in place you will find that the connectors are going to land pretty much where they need to connect to something. A manual with a wiring diagram will also be helpful at this point.
When you are ready to fire up the new harness, put a 10 amp fuse in line between the + post and the battery terminal; this way if something is shorted it will pop the small fuse an not do any damage to the new harness. You can also test all the switched circuits by connecting the negative lead of your ohm meter to the negative battery cable and then using a long lead wire test at the power wire terminal of lights, fans, starter signal and whatnot.
Here is the first result I got when I did a quick search:

Should be some good pics in that thread.
