Hello guys! I’ve been on here on and off for about 7 years looking for another MGB (my previous was a 1977 and a bit of a rust bucket)… you guys have given me your take on a couple I’ve looked at over the last couple of weeks, much appreciated.

I found one! Advertised on here by its owner - and a 1978 MGB at the very fair price of $4500. When I went to take a look at it I think the first thing I noticed was that this car was in great shape rust wise. In fact, it may have had the best frame rails I’ve seen out of the 10-15 or so of these that I’ve looked at… especially for a northern car.

I drove it home today, and it drove fantastic. Over an hour and oil pressure looked good, gauges worked, smooth and comfortable.

I definitely have a few things to take care of, and it’s got a real homemade paint job (but whatever!). Thanks again for all the help, and here is a link to some photos:

Looks nice. Welcome to the madness!!

Oil leak?? What oil leak? That puddle under the car is just sweat from all that horsepower!!

Robert, a seven year search, that's persistence. I think you did it right, looking for rust-free. Rust is the thing that can eat up more time and money than anything else. And if you repair the rust it takes the car off the road for a long time. I had a similar search for a rust-free B, not very serious for a long time because everything I looked at had rust problems. When I finally got serious, I didn't even care if the car was a runner--brakes, engine, etc, that's all easily fixed--just no rust! Enjoy your new ride, Phil

Thanks Phil! 100% - I’m sure this one will have some issues but so far, a ton of fun. Looking forward to working on it with my son and enjoying the good weather!
