Can I safely use hydraulic jack oil for my clutch oil
on my 1973 MGB?

No. It uses brake fluid. DOT 3 or DOT 4. Unless you know for certain that it has been changed to DOT 5 which is silicone based. DOT 3 & DOT 4 (glycol based) should not be mixed with DOT 5.

Do not be mislead if the label on DOT 4 says "synthetic" - that is just marketing. Only DOT 5 is silicone based.
