I want to put in a pre engaged starter in my '67B. The starter didn't come with paper work to ID the solenoid connection.
This motor has a spade lug I don't know what it's for. See my attached pic.

Can some one ID the solenoid lug and maybe the other?

I know this switch in starter motors can be done. I don't want to screw up a $125 motor!

Thanks guys.

First off, has your car been converted to negative ground?

I'll be doing that at the same time. I assume by your question it is necessary. Funny how I can't seem to get that question answered with a simple yes or no.
No idea on the connections? Oh well I'll keep at it. Someone has to know.

Thanks.

Good question.

The early cars had the solenoid mounted near the firewall. Thus battery on the solenoid is used differently.

The instructions should have included a short wire that connects to the starter solenoid and the the incoming battery wire post on the starter.. Thus both solenoids operate.

When the top one sends current it operates the solenoid and turns the motor.

Should have been instructions.

Course, considering the age of the car there may not be a second solenoid. You could remove it.

I got it figured out. There were no instructions. Moss has a video but with one of their more expensive starters they sell. (of course!)
The part I had problem with is which was the 'S' lug ( the starter line from the ignition) because this starter is devoid of any markings.
My project for tomorrow. Thanks!

Is it necessary to switch the ground polarity in order to install this starter?

Most of the ones I've seen state they are for negative ground. I haven't looked for one for a couple years, having already done the change on both the '67 and the '70. The '67 had already been converted to negative ground.
