I'm sure the owner of this gate had to let many different people enter. Ha ha

Quick link defeats the purpose of 6+ padlocks. Or perhaps the owner just had short sections of chain and used the padlocks to join them and extend the overall length. Its either genius, or something less than that.

Common in Aus where National parks have to allow access to different authorities. Fire brigade's, water, police, electricity, forestry etc.

That one is for the forgetful maintenance guy. He never remembers his key but always has a pair of pliers.

Same situation on the beach access road gate here on the base (minus the quick link! LMAO). There are several different agencies with privileges to drive into the area...

One could ask "Why not give them the one key to unlock to one padlock?" Well that one key may give access to lots of other places, that one doesn't want every Man and his Dog to have access to, so each legit entrant has their own lock and key, but can't get in anywhere else.

Might not be enough slack in the chain/locks to get it over the end of the quick link.

I think the image originally was to depict the stupidity of all the locks and then the link for it isn't unusual to have that many locks into a property , especially a construction site ...but normally all the locks would be linked together not spead out like that debacle ....obviously , as mentioned ...maybe had short lengths of chain and cheaped out ..

I prefer the more direct approach to those not authorized to enter the property ...grinning smiley
