My heater control knob is not working properly. Having removed the mechanism from the radio console I found that when I turn the knob there is very little movement of the cable due to, I think, wear on the lugs that fit onto the circular plate that attaches to the gear mechanism and the control cable.

I’d like to know if anyone has had this problem in the past and how to fix it. I’m thinking of trying to do two small welds to replace the two worn lugs. Has anyone tried something similar?

Ideas grateful accepted.

Since the "lugs" have gone missing, just drill out, two holes opposite each other. Use appropriate I think 8 or 10 X 32 bolts or screws with nuts to replace. This gives you the option of also " adjusting " the length of the 'pull' of the cable for better activation by using alternate 'holes' . Should be no problem with clearance issues from the nuts or bolt heads. Cheers Richard
